Luu Meng, CEO and founder of Almond Hospitality, led a team of management and staff on a visit to the NGO Pour un Sourire d’Enfant (PSE), bringing donations of daily necessities.
Including Cambodian rice, Kampot fine salt, vegetable oil, soy sauce, sugar, fish sauce and oyster sauce among others, the gifts were made possible through initiatives by Meng and friends and families, both local and overseas.
“We are very blessed that a lot of us, including my own family, came out unscathed by the pandemic, but I have also seen how many of my colleagues in the industry have been affected by it.
“We just want to give back to society whatever we in private sectors can afford to do. We try to leave no one behind,” said Meng.
While day-to-day life in Cambodia is returning to some levels of pre-Covid normality, many not-so-fortunate people are still struggling to get back on their feet.
PSE has since the pandemic lost a number of regular donors, making it a daily struggle for the NGO to in turn support poor and underprivileged Cambodian children.
This was not LuuMeng’s first initiative in support of PSE.
On November 21, 2019, in collaboration with LRC, one of Hong Kong’s oldest and most exclusive private clubs, he prepared a special Khmer menu for some of Hong Kong’s most refined and distinguished gourmands to raise money for the PSE School in Cambodia.
